Expanded "No Proof of Good Health" period for VGLI

As of November 1, 2012, separating servicemembers will have even more time, 240 days, from their date of separation to apply for Veterans’ Group Life Insurance (VGLI) without providing proof of good health. After the 240-day “no health” period, separating servicemembers will still have an additional eight months to apply for VGLI, but must then provide proof of good health. The extension of the “no health” period from 120 to 240 days is based on findings by VA that the initial 120 days after separation is not enough time for many servicemembers to assess their life insurance needs.

VA has extended the use of the old VAF 21-22 until further notice

VA has extended the grace period allowing ROs and PMCs to accept the older June 2009 version of the VA Form 21-22, Appointment of Veterans Service Organization as Claimant’s Representative, until further notice. The reason for the delay is that VA is still programming VONAPP Direct Connect (VDC) to accept the new VA Form 21-22.
