VFW Legislative Alert: Congress Must Pass a Defense Budget Now

Background: The new fiscal year begins October 1, and with no budget deal in sight and the continuing effects of mandatory sequestration, the Department of Defense is facing dangerous cuts that will impact our military personnel, readiness, training and family Quality of Life programs.

It is essential that Congress reach a budget deal and stop the irresponsible policy of sequestration, which asks for even more cuts to our military over the next decade. The VFW is urging all of its members and advocates to contact their legislators and demand action on the budget now!

Action Needed: Call and email your legislators today in both their Washington and District offices and tell them an uncertain budget impacts readiness, hurts troops and their families, and puts our national security at risk. Remind Congress that they created sequestration and are now responsible for ending it, as well as passing an on-time FY 2014 defense budget that will provide for the welfare of our troops, their families and our nation’s security. Time is running out and only Congress can put an end to this dangerous deal for our military.

Add your voice to the fight by contacting your congressional members at: http://capwiz.com/vfw/issues/alert/?alertid=62940921

Yours in Comradeship,

William A. Thien
