VFW POST 5917, Bolingbrook, IS ADDING A LADIES AUXILIARY

Just recently, the Post voted to add a Ladies Auxiliary VFW. The sole purpose of an Auxiliary is to support the Post, which is a great benefit to the Post membership in their efforts to support the area Veterans and their families.

Rosemary Wood, who has served as the Post Volunteer Coordinator, and Karen Foy, currently an Auxiliary member in New Lenox, are working with Barbara Howard of the State Auxiliary to establish the membership and apply for the Charter. Rosemary and Karen are looking for eligible women to join and participate in the Auxiliary. They need 15 members in order to apply for the Charter.

Eligibility is based on the lady's relationship to the Veteran who would be eligible for the VFW, but does not have to be a member at present. Eligibility extends to wives, widows, mothers (foster and stepmothers [who have performed the duties of parent]), grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters [who attained that status prior to age 16 and for who the duties of parent were performed], sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters [who attained that status prior to age 16] of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and not less than 16 years old.

If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining the VFW Post 5917 Auxiliary, please have them contact Rosemary Wood 630-364-9491 or Karen Foy 630-660-3867.
