From the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs

On behalf of IDVA Assistant Director Rodrigo Garcia, I want to direct your attention to an extremely worthwhile career building opportunity for returning servicemembers and military veterans. In partnership with the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Midwest Energy Alliance is hosting a free Building Operator Certification (BOC) program this spring semester explicitly designed for job-seeking veterans, and there are only 10 seats remaining.

The BOC program is an industry-leading, nationally recognized certification in the facilities management field. Eligible veteran participants will receive free career building resources, including eight days of hands-on training in energy-efficient building operations and maintenance, job placement assistance, mentoring by a facilities management professional, and a transportation stipend. See the attached flier for additional details. Veterans with experience and transferable skills as an engineer, electrician, technician, HVAC maintenance worker, boiler operator, or related job are ideal candidates for this program. However, all veterans are welcome to apply.

Classes begin on January 30, 2013 – so if you or someone you know is interested in this opportunity, please contact Eric Roach at eroach@mwalliance.org or 312-784-7277 for more information about eligibility and enrollment.
